The real profits of meditation are complex in light of the fact that it can invert your anxiety reaction, in this way protecting you from the impacts of perpetual anxiety. Common Reasons Why People Don’t Meditate

COMMON REASONS WHY PEOPLE DON’T MEDITATE

The nature of the mind has a tendency to focus on either on the past or the future. It rarely enjoys remaining in the present!

Since meditation is all about being in presence, if you are stressed, or worried or constantly thinking too much, your mind will find one million excuses as to why you should not meditate.

If you have time to shower, brush your teeth and log on to the Internet, surely you can spare a few minutes for your overall wellbeing!

Find it hard to remain still? Don’t worry, because meditation is not about stopping your mind from thinking. It simply increases your awareness about your thoughts and feelings and allows you to identify blocks in your life.

Meditation brings to surface toxic and suppressed emotions stored in your system that you were previously unaware of.

What Do The Experts Have To Say?

John Denninger, a psychiatrist at Harvard Medical School, is leading a five-year study on how the ancient practices affect genes and brain activity in the chronically stressed. Only recently have neuro-imaging and genomics technology used in Denninger’s latest studies allowed scientists to measure physiological changes in greater detail. “There is a true biological effect,” said Denninger, director of research at the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, one of Harvard Medical School’s teaching hospitals. “The kinds of things that happen when you meditate do have effects throughout the body, not just in the brain.”

“A certain amount of stress can be helpful,” said Sophia Dunn, a clinical psychotherapist who trained at King’s College London. “Yoga and meditation are tools for enabling us to swim in difficult waters.”

In a study published last year, scientists at the University of California at Los Angeles and Nobel Prize winner Elizabeth Blackburn found that 12 minutes of daily yoga meditation for eight weeks increased telomerase activity by 43 percent, suggesting an improvement in stress-induced aging.
