    About Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Over the recent years, CBT, or cognitive behavioral therapy, has become increasingly popular with clinicians and the general public. It was recommended as a replacement for most drug-based therapy in the highly influential Depression Report published by the London School of Economics in 2006. Studies indicate that CBT, or cognitive-behavioral therapy, is superior to antidepressants, and is proven to be an effective treatment for schizophrenic patients in clinical settings. It is not surprising that CBT, a form of psychotherapy, is now included in most treatment guidelines for a variety of psychiatric conditions.

This short intensive course has UK accreditation and is not intended for complete beginners but highly recommended for mental health, medical professionals, hypnotherapists, counsellors, well-being coaches, educators with pastoral roles and others with relevant experience who wish to learn the fundamentals, principles, and practices of CBT along with other modalities.

Illuminations Training Academy brings carefully curated courses to cater to the growing interest of individuals seeking a flourishing career in various holistic healing modalities..

    How Does CBT Work?

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is a branch of psychotherapy that treats issues by modifying dysfunctional emotions, behaviors, and thoughts. Unlike traditional psychoanalysis which probes childhood traumas & painful memories to get at the root causes of conflict, CBT focuses on a solution based approach. This is done by encouraging the client to challenge distorted thinking patterns and perceptions and transform destructive behavior patterns.

Based on the premises that our behavior is a result of our thoughts and perceptions. Feeling distressed, in some cases, may distort one’s perception of reality. CBT identifies limiting thought patterns and provides powerful tools to overcome them. It has been proven to be effective for a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and drug use problems, marital problems, eating disorders, and severe mental illness..
